“Oprah or Bust” a grass roots project.Medicating children for mental health issues has increased by 40 fold in the last ten years!Local pediatric psychiatrist Scott Shannon has written a wonderful book that addresses our nation’s over dependence on pharmaceuticals rather than addressing the underlying problems that are affecting our children.It is our opinion this is one of the most important public health books written in the last 10 years. So, here is the problem:There are 66 thousand new books released every year and this book is getting lost in the noise from all those other releases.So how do we help get it heard above all that “noise”?We go to the loudest book voice in the universe:Oprah.Follow this link to Oprah’s website.Take the minute to fill out the form and tell the producers this is a book they really need to look at.Even if you haven’t read it, tell them you heard about it and the word is out this is a really important book.Pass this note onto friends and family, associates or medical professionals.If enough people bring it up, we can get it into the “national consciousness” and start a dialogue about this issue.Also, if you can help get us press attention, that will be a great help too! Scott will be speaking at the Cove at the end of May (date TBD) and we want a full house for the event.Pass it on!
